Hi there, sorry this card is arriving late this week, have had a few family issues that I have had to deal with!! However, I am here now and I am going to show you how to use the emboss resist technique when making a card. This is a really striking technique and is also very popular.

Since the new Catalogue arrived, I have not stopped using the gorgeous new In-Colours. Today’s card is using three of them, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya.

Instructions on how to use the emboss resist technique on your card
- Start by making your base card. Take your piece of Basic White card stock and cut it to measure 14.8cm x 21cm then score on the 21cm side at 10.5cm. Fold and burnish your score line to create your base card.
- For your mat you will need to cut the Evening Evergreen card stock or In-colour DSP, to measure 12.5cm x 8.5cm. This can then be adhered flat to your white base card leaving an equal border all around.
- Using a piece of Basic White card stock, cut a piece to measure 12cm x 8cm. This is your mat for stamping your flower on.
- Take your flower stamp and ink it up using the Versamark ink pad. You are now going to stamp your flower but you are not going to stamp the whole flower. My sample shows that I have stamped part of the flower on the top left, top right and half way down on the left hand side of the portrait piece of card.
- Sprinkle on your White embossing powder and then heat with your heat tool.
- Grab a piece of copy paper and put this underneath your card, because you will want to protect your workspace! Ink up your blending brush by rubbing the brush into the ink pad, then lightly dab the brush on to your copy paper and then starting from just off the white mat and using a circular motion, rub your blending brush over the embossed flowers and into the card, until you are happy with how it looks.
Decorating your card
- Ink up the stamp with the Versamark ink pad and then stamp the whole flower onto the vellum. You will then need to sprinkle with White embossing powder and heat with the heat tool.
- The vellum flower can now be coloured (from the back) using the Stampin’ Blends. You can then fussy cut this out. Shape with your fingers because this will give it a bit of dimension. Then place a small piece of glue on just the end of the stem and then adhere the flower upside down from the top of the card (see pic).
- Stamp the sentiment onto the Evening Evergreen card stock using the Versamark Ink pad and then sprinkle with White embossing powder and heat with the heat tool.
- Die cut your sentiment using the Messages Die. You then add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment label and then adhere to your card.
- Add Rhinestones to decorate and this completes your card.
