Hi, how are you all ? How is your week going? I cannot say that I am enjoying the weather!! We have had a week of rain and it has been cold too!! Anyway, crafting always saves the the day and so today I wanted to share with you how to heat & dry emboss vellum. This is something I do love to do.
Here is the result of both!
Products Used – (links to the products are at bottom of post)
- Hand Penned Petals stamp set
- Sweet as a Peach stamp set
- Pale Papaya card stock
- Basic White card stock
- Stampin Blends’ – Pale Papaya & Soft Succulent
- Greenery Embossing Folders
- Genial Gems
Base card
Cut a piece of Pale Papaya card stock by placing the card into the cutter, with the long side along the top and cutting down at 14.8cm, then turn the card so that the short side is along the top of the cutter and then score at 10.5cm. Fold and burnish the score line.
Mats & decoration
To create the mats, cut a piece of Basic White card stock which will measure 14.3cm x 10cm and then cut a piece of Pale Papaya card stock to measure 10cm x 7cm . Place the Pale Papaya piece into the Greenery Embossing Folder and emboss. Both mats can now be adhered flat to the base card.
How to heat & dry emboss vellum flower
Taking a piece of vellum card stock, stamp the flower from the Hand Penned Petals stamp set, using Versamark. Sprinkle on the white embossing powder and heat (this is the “heat” part of embossing) using your heat tool.
Find a mat that is fairly spongy. Place your embossed flower onto the mat face down. Then using an embossing tool, emboss the largest flower by rubbing the flower petals in small circular strokes (this is dry embossing). DON’T press too hard as this will tear the vellum.
Keep your flower face down and colour the smaller flower using the Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blend and the leaves, in Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends.
You can now attach your flower to the base card, Add some glue to the bottom of the largest flower at the back and then a little down the stem. Also add a small dot of glue to the back of the smaller flower too. The large flower will stand out proud of the card as it has been dry embossed.
Stamp with Pale Papaya ink, your sentiment from the Sweet as a Peach stamp set onto a piece of basic white. Add dimensionals to the back and place onto your card.
